Using egg substitutes can have advantages and disadvantages, but are great for people who cannot eat eggs. You really must read the labels when you go to buy any egg substitute, because some of them contain undesirable oils and cellulose gum that are not a very healthy choice. When you use an egg substitute, you need to use the entire product, or dispose of the rest of it within a week, because they do not stay fresh very long after they are opened.
One of the benefits of using egg substitutes is that they do not contain the cholesterol that regular whole egg yolks do. They are mostly made up of egg whites instead of the yolk, which contains the cholesterol. Many of the powdered versions of egg replacement substitutes are easy to use because you just add water to them, and they can be stored on the shelf instead of in the refrigerator.
Liquid egg substitutes come either in a carton or frozen, used for cooking or for scrambled eggs or omelets. One advantage to these are you don't have to worry about eggs getting broken or cracked on the commute home from the store to the refrigerator. Many people are allergic to eggs, but are able to enjoy eggs in a substitute form. Many people use these egg substitutes, because they offer more health benefits for allergy sufferers, and people who are on a strict cholesterol free diet. Egg substitutes are a great way for people to enjoy the taste of eggs, and they make cooking very convenient.
