Baking a homemade pie can be a challenge because it takes practice to make it perfect. It may take you some time, but if you keep trying it will come out perfect. When you bake a pie, you need to work on the crust first.
The crust is probably one of the hardest things to do correctly. The key to making a good crust is the word cold. The key to this is to make sure that everything that goes into the crust is very cold. This means that the flour should be cold and the water that you use should be ice water.
If you make a lot of pies, you may consider buying a marble slab and keep it in your refrigerator until you are ready to use it. Another thing that you need to know, is not to handle the dough very much because it will make your dough flat. When you are all done, you should make the pie crust look very nice by using your thumb and gently crimping the dough between your thumb and your index finger.
The next thing that you can work on is the filling. You can fill your pie with about anything. You could use cherries, apples, lemon meringue, banana cream and much more.
You can make a crust for the top and you can do that by using other pieces of dough or you can cut the dough into strips and layer them on the top. If you use an upper pie crust, you will need to make some vents in it. If you do not want crust on the top, you could use whipped cream or something like that to make your pie look great.
