If you are updating your kitchen or installing appliances in a new house it is hard to choose whether to use electric or gas when it comes to cook tops. It pretty much is up to you as to what to get. The gas range is the favorite among professionals. The gas cook top has more accurate temperature control. You can turn your gas stove on, turn down the temperature immediately lowers and this has its advantages. Then again with a gas stove you have to worry about gas leaks because they do happen.
Now the electric cook top today comes in several options, the standard element type or the glass or ceramic cook tops. The plus to the later type is it can double for counter space in a pinch. The glass tops are much easier to keep clean, no leakage down into the crevices like that of the standard gas and electric ranges. Then again the glass and ceramic cook tops do have the ability to break if something heavy is dropped on them, and they tend to be expensive to fix.
They also become scratched; certain types of pots may stick or discolor the cooking surface. There are special cleaners for the glass/ceramic cook tops, it both cleans and polishes at the same time. So either the professionals choice of a gas cook top, the standard electric, or the glass/ceramic tops, they all have their pros and cons. It quite simply comes down to which one you prefer.
