Chocolate Covered Strawberry Recipe
Chocolate covered strawberries are quick and easy to make and provide an elegant, delicious way to end any meal. Not to mention they are perfect for get-togethers and celebrations. This chocolate covered strawberry recipe calls only for chocolate chips, a little butter and strawberries. However, if you like trying new and different
things you can always double dip the strawberries for different tastes
or designs. Some of the more popular choices are to make white chocolate or even a peanut butter-chocolate dip. Double and even triple dipping your strawberries by dipping them in white chocolate, peanut butter chocolate and milk chocolate
can create an aesthetically pleasing, as well as taste bud pleasing
treat. To do this you dip the strawberries in one flavor chocolate. Let
them cool. Then dip them in a different flavor later. Generally one cup
of chocolate chips will coat one dozen strawberries. So don’t make all
of these mixes unless you plan on eating lots of chocolate covered
strawberries. If you prefer plain chocolate, only melt the chocolate
mix ingredients. If you would like chocolate with white chocolate
drizzled decoratively on top, you would need to cook the entire
chocolate mix and half of the white chocolate mix.
Ingredients:
Chocolate Mix:
One cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk or dark chocolate is up to you)
½ Tbsp. butter
White Chocolate Mix:
One cup white chocolate chips
½ Tbsp. butter
Peanut Butter Chocolate Mix:
One cup peanut butter chocolate chips
½ Tbsp. butter
Or…
¾ cup chocolate chips
1 ½ Tbsp. peanut butter
½ Tbsp. butter
The best way to melt the chocolate
is to put 2-4 inches of water in a pot, and bring the water to a
simmer. Drop the temperature to the lowest setting or remove it from
the stove. Put the butter and chocolate chips in a heat resistant bowl
and place it on top of the water, stirring occasionally. Alternatively,
you can microwave the chocolate chips as well. It should take about 90
seconds, use a low setting and stop the microwave to stir every 45
seconds. Place a sheet of wax paper nearby for when it is time to dry
the strawberries. Wash your strawberries thoroughly and stick a
toothpick into the top of each one. There is a little technique involved
in the actual dipping. The trick is to give the strawberry a shake when
it’s inside the melted chocolate and to twist the strawberry as you
remove it from the chocolate to provide a nice even coat. Let the
excess chocolate drip back into the bowl before placing it on the wax
paper sheet to dry. If you are going to add a drizzle now is the time. Repeat the process but with a different flavor chocolate and remember to only make about half as much.
Grab a fork, dip it in the white chocolate or peanut butter chocolate
and drizzle it over the strawberries. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
If you can resist eating them immediately, you can repeat the chocolate
dipped strawberry recipe to create a double or even triple dipped
strawberry everyone is sure to enjoy. If you enjoyed this strawberry
treat, try the Strawberry Fluff dessert.
